What you need to know

  • TTI is a Texas based agency. This position has the flexibility of a hybrid remote option with two days in a TTI Texas based office. This can be discussed further during the interview process.

  • The salary range for position is commensurate. Final salary will be determined based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.

Job Summary:

The Communications Specialist II, under general supervision, is responsible for creating and managing content; serving as a project liaison and coordinator for the Communications team and its internal/external clients; and being a key content contributor to TTI’s publications, websites, marketing materials and research deliverables.

Essential Duties:

PROJECT AND CLIENT MANAGEMENT: (40%)

Serves as the primary Communications contact for internal and external clients. Generates product and labor estimates on an as needed basis and establish project timelines to help ensure client satisfaction and project success.

PUBLICATION MANAGEMENT AND COORDINATION: (25%)

Manages the planning, development, and distribution of TTI’s quarterly publication, the Texas Transportation Researcher.

WRITING AND EDITING (20%)

Researches, prepares and revises original content for the agency’s general and program specific websites and channels as assigned.

CONTENT STRATEGIST: (10%)

Develops materials and features stories for TTI to post on various media outlets, including social media. Assists with various copy for other print or electronic communications (e.g., websites, brochures, newsletters, presentations and reports).

Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of relevant communications and writing experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Team oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively manage clients.

Understanding of AP style writing; OR a willingness to learn.

Proficiency with Microsoft® Office.

Preferred Experience:

Two to three years of professional experience in a higher education or research environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated ability working with technical ideas and concepts.

Demonstrated ability managing multiple clients at a time.

Demonstrated ability working under deadlines.

Demonstrated ability using content management systems such as WordPress.

Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
