What we want

The Communications Specialist II is responsible for conceptualizing, creating, and producing innovative graphics in a range of media.

What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of experience in multimedia/graphics design, digital marketing, or marketing and communications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to design for print, web, and multimedia.

  • Strong and proven design skills that apply to all media.

  • Mastery level skills on current Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.).

  • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts clearly and effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong verbal communications skills – able to make presentations of ideas.

  • Has initiative, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a willingness to ask questions.

  • Has the ability to bring fresh ideas, their individual voice, and enthusiasm to the team.

  • Must be able to balance multiple, simultaneous priorities while meeting deadlines.

  • Time management skills.

  • Ability to work as a motivated self-starter.

  • Ability to display initiative, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a willingness to ask questions. Ability to work cooperatively with others and bring fresh ideas, their individual voice, and enthusiasm to the team.

Other Requirements or Other Factors:

  • Must feel comfortable with an omnichannel ecosystem, specifically social media, websites, and magazine publications.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

  • Five years' experience working in a multimedia/graphics design studio with an emphasis on digital media.

  • Experience in graphic design and communications for higher education.

  • Proven experience working within an established brand environment while displaying creativity and visual communication principles.

  • Experience participating in management, planning, and executing the production of plan with regards to multimedia and creative assets.

Responsibilities

  • Graphic Design - Designs new graphic communications pieces and communications systems within the Texas A&M and Mays Business School brand. This may include print materials, advertising campaigns, digital communications, large format signage, event materials, websites, PowerPoint presentations, environmental graphics, etc.

  • Graphic Production - Executes graphic templates, ideas, and looks according to client needs across a variety of output formats. Produces graphic elements and utilizes photographic elements for use within the larger omnichannel ecosystem.

  • Digital Communications Support - Designs specific graphics and digital slides. Resizes, edits, and locates photos. Creates templates for social media, emails, and other digital communications. Develops omnichannel graphics or information updates, including in our WordPress site environment.

  • Digital Asset Management - Assists in managing, uploading to, and maintaining the school’s digital asset management library.

  • Learning/Researching - Researches production strategies or formats. Keeping abreast of industry advancements and learning opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned.
