Job Description


As part of the communication team, provides leadership and support in communications, public relations, event planning and media relations functions for Texas A&M Forest Service to include planning, executing and managing agency communications, marketing, public and media relations.


Responsibilities:
-Help develop and administer marketing and communications initiatives that promotes the agency mission and outreach to external and internal audiences.

-Conduct media relations activities including news writing, interviews, serving as spokesperson, media lists, pitching, news releases, inquiries and tracking news.

-Work with communications team to create and implement a social media marketing strategy, manage agency-wide pages, respond to feedback and questions, monitor, measure and report, coordinate the editorial calendar, partner with other departments and programs to train and optimize their page management.  Develop, maintain standard operating procedures.

-Create and implement marketing and communications initiatives, events and special projects involving media, social media, community partners and primary audiences in line with the agency strategic communications and marketing plan.

-Support, add value and adhere to the team's digital communication strategy.  Work with agency communications and technology committees to optimize agency use and presence.  Incorporate digital best practices into all communications and marketing activities.

 

-Write and edit print and digital materials and assist in development of: web content, social media content, news releases, technical reports, brochures/flyers; coordinate production with designer and printer.  Work with agency personnel and vendors to develop informational materials, reports and displays in print and electronic formats.

-Possess proficient skills in graphic design and layout.  Assist with creative concepts and some technical development.

-Support, incident information and PIOs during an incident.  Back-up manager of social and web pages dedicated to incident information.

-Working conditions: Office environment, occasional travel with overnight stays may be required.  Occasional weekend and after-hour duty while under incident status.

-Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Required Education : Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field or equivalent experience (8+ years).
Required Experience :Two years demonstrated working knowledge, aptitude, experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required Knowledge : Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Knowledge : HTML, website design and content management, design and graphics experience, photography
Required Ability : Multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Required Skills : Excellent writing and editing skills

Licenses, Certificates or Registrations:

Required: Valid Texas Driver's License or the ability to acquire one within 30 days of employment.
