Job Description:
Iowa State University is the lead institution for a National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Center of Excellence known as the Center for Statistics and Applications in Forensic Evidence (CSAFE) a five-year, $20 million-dollar grant.
The Communications Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and measuring a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for CSAFE. This position will have frequent communications with NIST, CSAFE partner institutions, and external stakeholders in the field of forensic science. Other responsibilities include managing a robust visual identity for the center, managing and developing concepts and materials for reporting on research impacts; working with ISU News Service to promote ISU research to various media outlets; developing visual and written communications and marketing products for distribution to key communities and outlets; and developing and managing the institute’s web and social media content, supports promotional events, and supports internal communications.
The successful candidate will possess a passion and exceptional capability for explaining the nature and value of complex, highly technical scientific and/or statistical concepts to the public through a variety of media; excellent written, oral and visual communication skills; and the ability to work well with diverse groups of individuals.
