Communications Specialist

Job Description

Are you a driven writer who would like to directly shape and inspire a thriving future for everyone? The Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory is charting a course for global habitability and increased well-being, and we need someone to help craft the new language and messaging for this endeavor and direct activities to tell our stories.

On behalf of the vice president and vice provost of Global Futures and the leadership of the Global Futures Laboratory, you will develop a new lexicon that positions the work of the Global Futures Laboratory as a unique leader and then craft stories and narratives specifically created for a regular digitally oriented multi-media communications channel (still to be established) and other established outlets and channels. Additionally, you will collaborate with a diverse team to host a biennial convening of global leaders and stakeholders for the Global Futures Conference (inaugural event is scheduled for Fall 2022).

This position advanced writing skills, a strong feel for how to depict and share the deep expertise and innovative projects and programs of the laboratory, and an experienced ability to translate academic research (from all disciplines including humanities, arts, hard sciences, design and engineering) into compelling pieces that will inspire people to want to join ASU and the Global Futures Laboratory in any number of capacities to help shape potential futures of opportunity, not sacrifice. Our goal, in order to drive substantive impact, is to have these communications reach and engage an audience of at least 1 million annually.
