We’re seeking a talented and versatile Communications Specialist to join our high-performing team. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Enrollment Communications, the Communications Specialist designs, implements and evaluates targeted communication campaigns and experiences aligned with student recruitment, persistence and success goals. Efforts include national and international audiences.

The successful candidate will possess technical expertise creating, scheduling and measuring mass communication campaigns and managing multiple campaigns in coordination with project leads and stakeholders, and will report back results to leadership and client units.

Essential Duties

  • Initiates highly customized, interactive and effective nurture campaigns through technologies such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud to lead prospective learners toward conversion. 
  • Manages meetings with stakeholders to gather requirements and goals for the implementation of new communication flows. 
  • Collaborate with colleges/units to advance the educational goals of the university and ensure consistent messaging and branding across the institution.
  • Lead and coordinate the planning and execution of multiple webinars, while providing logistical support, assistance and metrics-based feedback to ensure a seamless virtual experience for participants.
  • Document the overall recruitment and enrollment communication experiences of learners across multiple educational products at ASU. 
  • Write and/or review content to ensure strict adherence to ASU brand guidelines and the voice of ASU while also being able to leverage corporate partners’ brand guidelines and voice. 
  • As part of the EdPlus Marketing Collaborative, works closely with the CRM team, enrollment center and other corporate partners as part of a dynamic, cross-functional, high-performing team focused on learner experiences and goals. 
  • Responsible for the creation, design, documentation, scheduling and optimization of email, SMS, dialer, app notifications, and ringless voicemail drops communications campaigns leading to the achievement of enrollment-related goals. 
  • Actively participates in the development of new ideas, content mapping, interactive journey mapping and functionality to prospective students to ensure delivery of experiences that result in significant and measurable improvements in understanding, conversion and outcomes in support of established goals. 
  • Implements multivariate testing methodologies on all elements of communication to increase conversion rates. 
  • Stays up to date about issues and risks related to email, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CCPA, CASL and other applicable laws.
  • Conducts effective market research for the purpose of understanding, segmenting and targeting groups of potential transfer students.
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with all staff, corporate and non-profit educational partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Provides excellent customer service to stakeholders and constituents; is collaborative and transparent with all work. 
  • Assumes or coordinates other duties or projects as assigned or directed. 


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Marketing Cloud, inclusive of Journey Builder is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated proficiency creating mobile responsive Email communications and Email templates using HTML, CSS, and AMPScript.
  • Evidence of proven record in marketing communication campaigns including development, execution and analysis.
  • Experience documenting and visualizing communication experiences. 
  • Evidence of being organized and capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously. 
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce and project management systems such as JIRA.
  • Experience conducting marketing campaigns utilizing 1 to 1 and mass communication tactics including, but not limited to: email, SMS and other communication strategies within a higher education setting; or an understanding of the principles and practices that lead to conversion, persistence and success.
  • Experience in working effectively with others to ensure projects meet deadlines and budgets. 
  • Experience in analyzing research data and translating raw information into actionable insights that can be easily understood and utilized by the entire organization. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud tools.
  • Experience in thinking creatively and strategically while handling complex issues; passion for new technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive, adapt and re-prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Experience analyzing communication campaign effectiveness.
  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.

Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, Education or a related field AND three (3) years of related work experience in the development of comprehensive and creative communication; OR seven (7) years of related work experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Certificates from recognized programs that verify mastery of tools and techniques relevant to the assignment may substitute for up to six (6) months of experience.

Working Environment

EdPlus at ASU is located at SkySong, the ASU Scottsdale Innovation Center. The center houses a diverse business community that links technology, research, education, and entrepreneurship to position ASU and Greater Phoenix as global leaders in the knowledge economy.

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting or standing. Daily use of desktop or laptop computer is required. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.
