COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, Aeronautics and Astronautics (AeroAstro),to be responsible for leadership and communications strategy, content creation and planning, and digital and brand management.  Will lead comprehensive strategic communications, marketing, and outreach promoting AeroAstro’s mission, vision, and values; ensure consistent implementation of AeroAstro’s brand narrative across all distribution channels; provide advice on issues related to communications, including response to urgent issues and matters extending beyond traditional communications issues; conceptualize, write, edit, design, and approve content for a variety of communications and outreach projects; manage complex communications projects to budget and schedule; build relationships with vendors; and perform other duties as requested.  


Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field; five years’ communications experience; experience creating content and developing distribution channels in a communications, outreach, or marketing position, preferably in higher education and/or an aerospace or STEM field; excellent written, oral, and visual communication skills; experience with graphic design and layout; experience with science and engineering writing and print and digital technologies, including HTML and content management systems (WordPress preferred); understanding of information architecture and data usage analytics; experience with presentation software (e.g., Keynote, Prezi, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite and other graphics/design software, Microsoft Office, web development tools and analytics, multimedia (e.g., photography, video, and audio), and video and database software.  Must be able to learn MIT systems; deliver high-quality results while managing multiple projects; effectively engage with faculty, alumni, staff, students, industry, and other stakeholders; write in a variety of voices according to the audience/medium; learn evolving technologies; and collaborate as part of a team. PREFERRED:  master’s degree, engineering or science background, and public speaking experience.  Job #22293-8
