COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER,  Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health (J-Clinic) , to work with the director and faculty to develop and implement communications, marketing, and outreach efforts promoting J-Clinic to industry, the general public, faculty, current/prospective students, and greater MIT community.  Will manage, create, and measure website and social media content, including conceptualizing and implementing new initiatives and establishing regular reporting systems to share analytics/trends; manage monthly newsletter; conceptualize, write, and/or edit a variety of content for multiple channels/projects, leading the video productions; and serve as the media relations contact, including crafting announcements, facilitating MIT News coverage, and managing inquiries. 


Job Requirements
REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field; four years’ communications experience--including content creation, digital communications, project management, and media relations--preferably in science/technology fields; excellent project management, editorial, content development, proofreading, fact-checking, and written and oral communication skills; up-to-date experience with and extensive knowledge of digital communications platforms, working across social media channels and web platforms; media relations experience and ability to work with journalists; high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop); experience crafting compelling PowerPoint presentations and leveraging metrics to market and evolve programs/initiatives; discretion with sensitive information/issues; and strong research and interviewing skills.  Must be able to prioritize multiple work assignments and meet deadlines; develop, assess, and synthesize information and translate complex scientific concepts for a general audience; copy-edit for grammar, spelling, accuracy, format, tone, and AP Style; and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.  PREFERRED:  master’s degree; knowledge of/experience with university research, graduate studies, and/or technology transfer; interest in computer science and artificial intelligence; and website development experience.  Job #20688-8
