Description
The Department of Communications and Agricultural Education at Kansas State University is currently seeking individuals interested in a master’s level graduate teaching and research assistantship to begin in the Fall 2022 semester. Position Summary The selected individual will work directly with Dr. Nellie Hill to carry out research and teaching-related activities. Graduate research topics will focus on landowner decision-making and communications regarding natural resources and environmental stewardship. The individual will assist with literature reviews, research design, data collection and analysis, and dissemination of findings to stakeholders, as well as other duties as assigned. Teaching support will aid in the development and facilitation of undergraduate coursework related to agri-business communications and/or visual communications. Appointment Graduate assistantship for master’s degree students includes a minimum of 20 hours of assistantship-related responsibilities per week. Assistantships fund full-time graduate-level coursework (6-9 hours) per spring and fall semester, with optional summer coursework to complete a Master of Science in Agricultural Education and Communication. This appointment serves during the academic year and is subject to annual renewal based on performance as a graduate assistant. There are two years of support available at $18,500/yr for this master’s level assistantship. Start date can be August 2022 or January 2023
Qualifications
Successful candidates must be admitted to the Kansas State University Graduate School and the Department of Communication and Agricultural Education graduate program. A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in agricultural or environmental communications, or a related field. Experience and/or interest in science communications applied social science research, natural resources, and/or environmental stewardship is preferred.
