The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) has an outstanding opportunity for a Communications & Marketing Manager to join their team.

POSITION PURPOSE
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) maintains an internationally recognized research program with three core research areas (operations, applied statistics and production systems, and human factors and ergonomics) applied to health care, transportation, energy, and manufacturing.   ISE prepares students for careers in a diverse and dynamically global environment, by providing them with the skills to foster a sustainable and safe future. Students learn to take a systems approach to problem solving and to recognize the larger societal impact of each engineering decision. We offer degrees at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral level, and our professional Master of Engineering program provides individuals in the workplace the opportunity to sharpen their leadership and entrepreneurship skills.

The department has 14 faculty with over 200 undergraduate and graduate students. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary duties are
70%  internal and external communications:
• Manage communications, marketing, and development approaches for ISE and its affiliated programs.
• Design digital and print materials including:  promotional materials (flyers, info sheets), recruitment materials, presentations, annual reports, newsletters, event invitations, web pages, and conference materials (signage, posters) using Adobe products (Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, InDesign).
• Support the chair in the preparation of material for communications with stakeholders (e.g. advisory board, prospective students, and dean).
• Maintain ISE website by adding content, images, and forms; updating faculty and student profiles; and fixing broken links. Make recommendations for and execute structural design improvements.
• Work with staff to document and update administrative procedures as necessary.
• Support ISE faculty in developing effective outward communication strategies including websites, social media and other mechanisms.
• Serve as the primary curator and editor of web site content; ensure content and look remain fresh and fit within the UW branding guidelines; and maintain current web governance plan.
• Establish and implement social media strategy; write copy, post interactive content such as photos and videos, curate relevant content from other sources, monitor visitor interaction with the page and compliance with UW policies and procedures, monitor and use page statistics to guide future page management.
• Work with UW news offices to coordinate placement of stories about ISE faculty and students in relevant local, national, and international publications.
• Manage identity, mailing and contact lists, and other marketing/outreach efforts of ISE.
• Develop statistics-driven, targeted outreach strategies.

Other duties may include:

15% Special Projects and Events
The Communications Specialist will report to the department Administrator while working closely with Assistant to the Chair to promote special events with up to 1,000+ attendees such as seminars and graduation.
• Participate in recruitment events for graduate and undergraduate.
• Book facilities for the event
• Participate in ISE outreach events (e.g. K-12 activities), community college outreach, Capstone, Alumni and Friends, Donor scholar luncheon, etc
• This will require this position to occasionally work evenings.

15% Other
• Represent the department at appropriate meetings to stay up to date on regulations and policies affecting work and seek related training opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned by Department Administrator
• We do expect this person to sit full-time at our front desk of our department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or Management Information Systems or related field and 5 years of experience in related field.
Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree.
Advanced techniques in data presentation using resources that include but are not limited to work in Excel, Access, MS SQL Server Data Tools, and Tableau
Advanced working knowledge of financial and accounting practices related to standard financial reporting
Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with LEAN philosophy and agile project participation for operational effectiveness
Advanced working knowledge of FAS / FIN, WorkDay HRP and ERP systems, InVision, CRIS and related operational data stores
Experience performing progressively more complex tasks in support of MAA-wide data analysis and systems management.
Extensive knowledge of data, data structures used to store business data, and business (subject area) processes.
Demonstrated experience in customer relationship management including scope and expectation management.
Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with, but not limited to, MS Windows, enterprise-wide relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, and MySQL), formal data modeling techniques, and scripting languages.
Strong skills and experience in computer systems and software, especially in the areas of data warehouses, relational and non- relational databases, and various methods of data analysis.
Ability to work effectively with University systems and business partners at the executive level for the development of MAA data strategies
Ability to function independently and effectively and as part of a team.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong customer service skills necessary to work with financial information users at all levels; from a summarized strategic perspective to a detailed operational one.
Capacity to function effectively in a complex, changing environment.
Knowledge of technology must be at a level necessary to develop analytic queries and tools to provide financial information to users.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with HTML and website development languages.
• Experience with virtual event platforms such as YouTube and Zoom.
• Knowledge of UW systems, event venues, and processes and procedures.

This is an in person position but hybrid can be discussed.
