Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Responsible for content creation/design and management of all social media accounts to include daily management of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn; plan, schedule, publish and analyze content posted to college accounts; monitor discussion, posts and comments across all platforms with an eye for issues management as well as prime opportunities to engage; attend events/seek out opportunities for coverage on social media throughout the college; brainstorm content ideas and pursue ideas based on data strategy and platform best practices; expand/look for new opportunities on platforms not currently used.
Management of website to include weekly maintenance (edits, updates, additions, and corrections of website); write 2-3 feature news articles each month; and visual updates adhering to USC branding policies. Develops and designs college and alumni monthly e-newsletter (outlines and content). Responsible for tracking analytics and managing subscribers.
Provides strategic support for design/marketing activities to include assisting with communication initiatives throughout the college, flyers, invitations, digital ads, and promotional giveaways. Coordinates external media/press. Represent the College of Nursing at university and central communications meetings and events. Assist with the placement of advertisements and marketing campaigns. Assist with college environmental projects.
Creates audio visual content of college programs and activities. Responsible for all film, edit and production of b-roll, promotional and event footage. Works with IT for technical support of live streaming video venue events.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, graphic design or similar program and 2 years experience related to the development and dissemination of informational material.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of higher education learning environment or health care.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of journalistic principles and practices and techniques of disseminating information to the public through news media. Knowledge of grammar, composition and style. Ability to gather, organize and present oral and written information in a clear, concise and accurate manner. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the communication media and general public.
Exceptional writing and communication skills, including ability to tell a compelling story and reasonable understanding of photography.
Creative self-starter with excellent design skills and the ability to create attention grabbing graphics for web and social media with a desire to develop professionally and keep abreast of developing trends in communications.
Knowledge of social media, including best practices for engaging audiences in a professional context on each platform.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and other web-based design software tools like Canva and web content management systems.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments, while consistently meeting deadlines.
