The IT Communications Manager will lead the communications team by providing creative and visual direction for all marketing deliverables including print, digital, social media, and multimedia. In this role, you’re involved in all functions: research, strategy, creative, media, management, and performance measurement in a primarily digital environment.  

 

You will work closely with the Product Management team to successfully launch new technology products, retire old ones, and ensure the continuous improvement of our products and services. You will still do hands-on work while managing a team. Experience drafting technical content that is clear, concise, and easy to understand will serve you well! What you need to know

Salary Range: $64, 480.00 - $78, 811. 20, commensurate with education and experience.

Required Education Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five years of communications related experience including two years of supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of web development processes.

  • Excellent project management skills.

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment. 

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with a diverse range of people. 

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills. 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or marketing.

  • Ten years job-related experience in creating and editing marketing and communication materials and developing content for the web.

  • Experience communicating about technical topics or marketing technology.

  • Five years management experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of technical communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Under direction, leads and supervises full-time communications and graphic design employees. Assists with the hiring, selection, and training of assigned full-time employees and student workers.

  • Communications Creation: Oversees and manages production of communications for products, services and initiatives. Creates, develops, and implements strategic marketing and communications plans for the Division of Information Technology. Coordinates with creative groups in the development of effective marketing materials. Reviews and edits written materials, prepares presentations, and communicates with students, employees and IT professionals. Drafts communications to campus members to launch, change or retire new products, policies and initiatives. Drafts news stories to showcase the division’s accomplishments and initiatives. Works to ensure a positive brand for Texas A&M University and the Division of Information Technology. Assists with website development and creates web content. Works with print, digital and multimedia.   

  • Communications Strategy: Assists with development of communications strategy. Assists with high-profile communications initiatives.

  • Professional Development: Participates in training and professional development sessions.

  • Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
