Job Description

The Web Governance Coordinator, under supervision, ensures engaging, accurate, cohesive, and relevant web content is maintained for the Texas A&M AgriLife digital presence.

Leads web governance efforts through coordination with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and its departments, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension units and Texas A&M AgriLife Research. Works under the guidance of the Assistant Director of Web Operations to oversee the overall governance approach to the maintenance of websites and adherence to web governance best practices.

Liaises with content writers and editors within AgriLife’s Marketing and Communications team for web content placement and adherence to branding and style. Provides recommendations with content placement based on data provided by team members managing analytics. Support AgriLife’s strategic plans with the strategic content placement, particularly in recruitment and retention of students for the Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and supporting the strategic plans of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Texas A&M AgriLife Research in their roles to continue the Land Grant mission of Texas A&M.

Job Responsibilities

-Leads web governance efforts through coordination with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and its departments, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension units and Texas A&M AgriLife Research.

-Establishes best practices for web governance, including the execution and maintenance of governance MOUs with AgriLife entities. Creates maintenance cadences to ensure web content writing and placement stays relevant and in alignment with strategic plans. Assists in web content consolidation efforts.

-Works closely with team members to ensure best placement of digital content for SEO and readability. Collaborates with web content editors on SEO and keyword improvements for website content. Manages, writes, updates, and edits web content. Audits existing content throughout the websites for adherence to editorial guidelines, cohesiveness of content and branding, and electronic accessibility of content. Works with tools such as Site Improve to improve websites scores for SEO, Quality Assurance and Accessibility.

-Coordinates and trains liaisons within College departments, Extension units and Research units to ensure alignment in consistent processes and web content to reach strategic goals for marketing and communications best practices.

-Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Three years of communications and/or marketing experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree plus demonstrated continual pursuit of learning opportunities such as professional development, LinkedIn Learning, certification courses, etc.

-Experience in writing for the web with an emphasis on content strategy; optimizing content for search engines (SEO). Writing for the web with experience in ensuring that content is accessible. Web governance strategies to keep websites current, engaging and strategic.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

-Excellent written communication skills with the ability to draft clear, concise documentation and reports. Knowledge of federal, state and university requirements on accessibility, and the ability to help in compliance in this area. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
