Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Work as part of the team responsible for SC TEACHER’s communications brand and the expansion and implementation of communications strategies and policies to support the strategic goals of SC TEACHER. Engage and inform internal and external audiences, including but not limited to district partners, potential funders and donors, faculty and staff, influencers, and the general community (through a variety of platforms and media). Support the organization to ensure buildout of an efficient and effective communications infrastructure as well as consistency in messaging and visual identity. This is a hybrid position.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 1 or more years of experience, which may be substituted by equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in the field of communications; strong writing/editing background; ability to quickly learn to use and troubleshoot technology platforms, including management of databases.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Written, verbal and organizational skills with the ability to strategically prioritize and successfully address urgent and important matters as well as meet deadlines. Ability to work successfully on a team or individually. Research skills, with the ability to the develop, improve, and/or organize content. Ability to utilize a variety of software and technologies to achieve desired solutions. Ability to understand and adhere to internal communications strategies designed to build brand and community. Excellent writing skills; practiced understanding of APA writing style. Ability to interpret research for a general audience. Experience using social and online media best practices to help advance on-brand messaging. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Manage Online Media and Records by keeping MailChimp data up-to-date as the CRM; assisting with planning, design and implementation of social media; monitoring social media accounts by checking posts, responding to comments and reporting on analytics; and helping plan, design, implement, and track success of email campaigns. Contribute to social and newsletter engagement efforts (following accounts, signing up public facing positions where applicable, coordinating efforts with partners).
