The Gender Equity Unit at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health is seeking an energetic and creative individual to join its communications team. The ideal candidate is also passionate about equity, social justice, and community engagement. Under the direction of the Senior Communications Associate, we are seeking a Communications Coordinator  who will assist in executing innovative digital and print communication strategies to help carry out the mission and spread the message of the Gender Equity Unit to a broad audience of stakeholders interested and involved in supporting and developing gender equity worldwide.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive social media marketing strategies to increase engagement and visibility.
  • Monitor and analyze social media metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with team members to create and curate engaging content for various platforms.
  • Contribute to end-to-end marketing plans for events and programs, utilizing both online and offline channels.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to maximize promotional opportunities.
  • Design visually compelling graphics for both digital and print materials, ensuring alignment with branding guidelines.
  • Conceptualize and create multimedia content, including infographics and videos, to enhance communication efforts.
  • Manage the creation, distribution, and tracking of print and digital materials, ensuring consistency in messaging and branding.
  • Explore innovative approaches to reach diverse audiences through various communication channels.
  • Develop engaging content for e-newsletters and e-blasts, tailoring messaging to different target audiences.
  • Implement segmentation strategies to personalize communications for specific stakeholder groups.
  • Establish and maintain a centralized digital asset library for easy access by team members.
  • Implement metadata tagging and organization practices to streamline asset retrieval.
  • Identify and pursue collaborative marketing opportunities with like-minded organizations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in marketing and communication for continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years college coursework.
  • Some related experience
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Mass Communications, English, Journalism, or related field.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of PC operations and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability and desire to learn new database and software applications.
  • Preferred: Experience or familiarity with graphic design software and platforms (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), website management (Drupal and/or SiteExecutive), and surveying platform Qualtrics.

Starting Salary Range: Min $18.00 - Max $33.50 HRLY ($50,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
