Under the direction of the Senior Director of Housing and Auxiliary Services, the Student Life Communications Coordinator is responsible for the leading the development, management and implementation of strategic integrated communications to support strategic goals, to generate high-quality student inquiries for programs, and to help position the University Student Life experience in the marketplace.
This team member stays abreast of changes in the communications environment to best serve the objectives of the division and adjusts plans accordingly. Applies quantitative and qualitative market research to guide analysis of competitive and industry trends as related to the division's program initiatives and enrollment opportunities. The Student Life Communications Coordinator will work with Division of Student Life staff and other communications and marketing strategists to mentor and train towards their continuing development of trends in communications, brand strategy, and marketing expertise.
The Student Life Communications Coordinator is a brand ambassador who works to integrate and establish the brand message in the areas they represent. This team member works closely with the departments within the Division of Student Life and the Director of Housing and Auxiliary – to help define the brand value proposition and work to convey a distinctive, compelling brand message across multiple media to attract prospective students and constituents in support of building the Creighton brand. In doing so, she/he will ensure communications and marketing activities are based on solid brand strategy, positioning/value proposition development, claims development, and messaging.
The Communications Coordinator works cooperatively with, and leads the efforts of, internal and outside vendors/partners as appropriate. The Communications Coordinator creates and disseminates multimedia content to engage students, family members, and the Omaha community with Division of Student Life and Creighton Dining programs and services, including, but not limited to orientation programing, mental and physical wellness services, living and dining services, diversity and inclusion programming, and student engagement programming.

 This is a contract one-year position with potential for long-term pending funding.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field (Business Administration, Marketing, Journalism, or Multimedia Production)

One (1) year of experience in communications field

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and designing forms

Skill in communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience

Skill in persuading others to change their minds or behavior

Skill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Skill in using Microsoft office products

Skill in Adobe creative software, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere

Ability to synthesize dense information into an intuitive visual format
