Position Summary Information


General Information
The role of the Communications Assistant is to help the Center for Global Engagement execute its strategic messaging objectives by designing promotional materials and publishing content. The Communications Assistant will report to the Communications Specialist and work with stakeholders in International Student and Scholar Services, Study Abroad, and Global Learning Partnerships. They are responsible for designing visual assets for use in CGE promotions, managing email marketing campaigns, maintaining social media channels, and assisting with department photo/video shoots.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create visual designs for email marketing materials, digital signs, social media, website, and other CGE promotions.
  • Prepare, format, and send promotional emails.
  • Maintain CGE audience email lists.
  • Draft social media posts for @jmuglobal and @IntelDukeDog
  • Organize and maintain a posting calendar for each social channel
  • Implement social media strategies and gauge effectiveness of those strategies.
  • Design graphics for use on the CGE website.
  • Perform website content updates through Cascade.
  • Oversee communications-related work of student employees.
  • Assist during CGE video shoots.
  • Take photos at CGE events.
Qualifications
  • Graphic design experience is required. Should be comfortable designing assets for use in various marketing campaigns, taking critique, and executing final projects. Demonstrated experience in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or equivalent software with a robust portfolio of work.
  • Professional experience with social media publishing.
  • Experience in email marketing is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a web CMS. Cascade experience is a plus.
  • Photography experience.
Condition(s) of Employment
Due to scheduling across global time zones, some evening and/or weekend hours may be required. These are part-time wage positions with no benefits. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
