The Communications and Marketing Specialist for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is responsible for increasing ECE’s visibility by planning, managing, and executing news and information strategies; executes marketing plans; maintains ECE website by updating and maintaining page layouts, posting news, awards, events, program changes, photos, and profiles; develops publications such as the annual report and the annual Bits & Sparks alumni magazine; produces print, email, and web announcements and related materials for mini-conferences, seminars, and alumni or student events; creates, edits and procures brochures, posters, promotional flyers; produces and disseminates email communications to ECE Chairs and Engineering Deans at peer institutions; writes and distributes news release items to Ohio State and local news media outlets; responsible for updates and maintenance of the department website and its content using Drupal with technical assistance from the College’s IT personnel; manages the department's social media presence; attends ECE-related events to document and post on social media; assists with development efforts and acts as liaison with media personnel within the College and University; runs site reports and performs website checks and remediations on a regular basis to assure compliance and workability; updates and maintains digital monitors displaying department and student highlights or videos; hires and supervises student employee(s).

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in communications or marketing with 2 or more years of experience in marketing and promoting a program or project via social media, print, news releases, websites, and special events. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; experience with social media and email marketing and the ability to create, post, and disseminate concise and relevant items quickly; experience in publication production and disseminating news releases; skilled in desktop publishing; experience with Drupal or other website content management systems; exceptional time and project management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects with changing priorities; high commitment to quality and the desire to think creatively. Desired: Experience with digital photography and videography; skilled in Adobe Creative Suite; previous supervisory experience. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
