Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Associate Director of the Mike and Renee Child Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, lead communications, marketing, and relationship management to promote brand recognition and engagement with innovation and entrepreneurship programs and services across diverse constituent groups, including international, national, and regional business and government leaders, community groups, high-profile sponsors, faculty, staff, undergraduate students, graduate students, and post docs at UC Davis and other educational institutions. Initiate and manage positive, mutually beneficial relationships that support community engagement, sponsorships, internships, speaker and mentor relationships, and the long-term affiliation of program participants with the Institute. Apply communications and marketing expertise with a dynamic balance of autonomy and collaboration. Engage in effective use and maintenance of content management, multimedia/design, and data systems and tools to produce high quality digital materials and limited print materials. Provide mentorship and guidance to student employees, program participants/constituents, and staff who contribute to work products, while assuring output aligns with UC Davis, Institute, and other editorial/design standards and brand consistency. Champion practices that increase accessibility and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Enthusiastically communicate the Institute’s mission through words, images, and actions.

 

RECRUITMENT PERIOD THREE (3) WEEKS: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis.

 

BUDGETED SALARY RANGE $72,300.00-$91,000.00/ANNUAL COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Extended periods of time sitting at a desk in front of a computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

May require travel throughout the state of California. Must be able to drive to greater Sacramento and Bay Area locations. Valid California driver’s license required.  Must be available for assigned in person and virtual program events as scheduled. Work occasional flex schedule (including evenings, holidays, and weekends), sometimes on short notice, to meet operational needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or a related field, and/or equivalent technical and advanced education.
Demonstrated experience promoting audience engagement by developing effective communications, marketing, and/or relationship management strategies that achieve an organization’s goals.
Demonstrated experience planning, developing, executing, and evaluating varied communications, marketing, and relationship management tactics by managing and fully utilizing content management systems; social media platforms; graphic design, video, and image creation/editing software; email and/or texting platforms while proficiently using brand and editorial guidelines (e.g., AP Style).

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

Ability to proficiently use a suite of business, marketing, and communications software and technology, pursue technical and professional expertise and resources as needed, and proactively learn/integrate innovative communications, marketing, and relationship management approaches.

Strong interpersonal skills, oral and written communication abilities, and professional poise to initiate and manage relationships with diverse groups of constituents and UC Davis/other partners, create informative and persuasive communications, and solicit input and collaboration.


Strong organizational and project management skills to establish priorities, manage multiple projects in various stages of completion, document progress, and review and analyze results.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex issues expediently, with minimum direction, and make improvements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Education/Experience:  

Minimum 5 years’ experience in communications, digital marketing, and relationship management focused on strategy development and multifaceted content creation/management.
Experience working within the complexities of a higher education setting and with diverse groups of internal and external constituents.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA):

Excellent writing, graphic design, video, and image creation/editing skills to foster engaging multimedia storytelling.


Demonstrated ability to teach and coach others to promote their business and/or professional brand and explain how to craft a compelling multimedia narrative that is accurate, informative, and persuasive/inspirational.
