The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education at The University of Texas at Austin is accepting applications from qualified individuals for a full- time, Assistant Professor of Instruction position. The position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure earning position, with an initial contract that is expected to start August 16, 2024.

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education has robust undergraduate and graduate programs and is committed to a an intellectually diverse, welcoming, and engaging working and learning environment and are seeking candidates whose research, teaching, and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to serving students from across Texas, the country, and the world, including those who have been historically underrepresented in higher education.  KHE has the largest undergraduate population of the five departments housed in the College of Education and offers undergraduate degrees in Kinesiology & Health Education and Athletic Training, with undergraduate specializations in Applied Movement Science, Exercise Science, Health Promotion and Behavioral Science, Physical Culture and Sports, and Sport Management. 

This is a non-tenure earning position, with an initial contract of one (1) year, a 4/4 teaching load, and commensurate departmental service expectations. The ideal candidate will have the appropriate academic and practical preparation to teach courses in the areas of Sport Management and/or Physical Culture and Sport, as well as being able to oversee student internships.  The subject matter of courses to be potentially taught includes but is not limited to: sport media and public relations, sport sociology, sport organizational behavior, sport facility and event management, sport marketing, the philosophy and ethics of sport, women and sport, and the history of sport.  The ideal applicant will need to provide both theoretical content and practical experiences in numerous areas related to sport management and physical culture and sport studies.
