College of Business - Peer Advisor

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison between the Massey Advising Center staff advisors and students. 
  • Peer advising, answering student questions via chat, video, email, or in person meetings regarding registration, DegreeWorks, and campus resources. 
  • Understand the different degrees/majors within the Massey College of Business and have a basic knowledge of required courses.
  • Ability to redirect students to the Academic Catalog or other resources for more information. 
  • Represent Massey Advising Center at events across campus, which may include New Student Orientation. 
  • Assist with various marketing projects, such as making graphics in Canvas, sending out the monthly Newsletter,
  • creating/distributing surveys and advising resources.   
  • Assist with providing office coverage by answering the main telephone line, scheduling appointments, and greeting guests with warmth and hospitality. 
  • Other projects/duties based on the Massey Advising Center’s initiatives.

Primarily sedentary work. Occasionally requires standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, and climbing, reaching both high and low.

  • The ideal candidate is detail oriented and has strong organizational, administrative, problem-solving abilities. 
  • Trustworthy and reliable; is committed to student confidentiality (will receive in-depth training on FERPA). 
  • Dependable, prompt, enthusiastic and self-motivated. They will take initiative in completing tasks and desire to build/grow his/her skills. 
  • Must be team-oriented, have strong written and oral communication skills, and have excellent interpersonal/customer service skills. 
  • Dedicated and hardworking; able to stay on task and work quickly despite distractions. 
  • Friendly and professional; is a positive role model when working with peers in the College of Business.  
  • Ability to learn new platforms like Canva, MyEmma, Qualtrics, Microsoft Office (Teams), TimeTrade, Zoom, etc. 
  •    
    Required Education Must be enrolled as a student at Belmont University. Students in the Massey College of Business are preferred, but not required. 
       
    Required Experience Microsoft office. Working knowledge of Belmont curriculum is a plus.
