Under the direction of the undergraduate social work program’s Lead Academic Advisor, this College and Regional Recruiting and Enrollment Specialist 2 serves as a key member of the social work undergraduate academic and student affairs team. The College and Regional Recruiting and Enrollment Specialist 2 represents the College and the University and is responsible for building positive, professional relationships with prospective students (first year and transfer) and internal/external constituencies with a goal of attracting, admitting, and enrolling a talented, diverse social work student body. This position will plan, develop, coordinate, and execute the recruitment and admissions process in alignment with the College's and University’s strategic enrollment goals. 

Student Recruitment

  • Plans and facilitates College of Social Work recruitment events and initiatives for prospective new first-year and transfer students, such as visitation days, open houses, advisor/high school counselor information sessions and workshops.
  • Creates and implements recruitment and educational programming for high school and community college audiences to build awareness of the social work degree and profession.
  •  Collaborates with undergraduate admissions and other campus offices. Learns and uses the Empowering Market Analysis (EMA), CRM (Salesforce), Student Information System, and other technologies to access and analyze student data.
  • Functions as the College of Social Work representative at the university’s on and off-campus prospective student events and participates in local and out-of-state recruitment travel.
  • Serves as the initial and integral point of contact for prospective students and families to provide information on the social work major and career opportunities, the undergraduate admissions processes, and the undergraduate student life experience within the College and the University.
  • Designs and delivers presentations for students in the Exploration program.
  • Designs and implements effective follow-up communications with prospective students and develops and maintains a database of recruitment opportunities, up-to-date contact lists, and recruitment reports.

Student Orientation and Advising

  • Facilitates first-year student and transfer student orientation.
  • Manages the College of Social Work Student Ambassador program.
  • Collaborates with social work advisors to provide prospective students with timely and accurate information about degree options, general education requirements, and major course requirements.
  • Assist new students in building strong relationships with their future social work academic advisors and assist advisors with other duties as assigned.

Media Management

  • Manages the College of Social Work undergraduate program’s electronic newsletter.
  • Works with the College’s Marketing and Communications office to refine, implement and maintain social media and marketing strategies for recruitment efforts within the College.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor of Social Work degree preferred. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred. Experience in social work and/or student services desired; excellent verbal and written communication skills; sensitivity and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; dedicated to providing excellent service; creative, organized, and detail oriented.

The target hiring range is $19.52-$26.04 hourly.  The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the unit’s available budget.
