Position Summary
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Memphis is looking for a skilled, innovative, and visionary speech-language pathologist with a strong clinical background who would like to work in a stimulating academic setting and direct clinical speech pathology services and practica. This position is a twelve-month, non-tenure-track line, beginning July 1, 2024, and will be instrumental in ensuring that the School achieve the goals set out in its strategic plan and in shaping the clinical and clinical education professions.
Clinical Faculty Responsibilities:
· Work with faculty on curriculum and program outcomes/design
· Service to School, University, and the profession
· Professional activity and/or leadership
· Teach clinical graduate coursework
· Maintain a line of clinical practice
Administrative Responsibilities:
· Supervise, guide, and encourage speech language pathology clinical faculty
· Advise and mentor SLP students in their clinical education
· Track clinical program progress and report as necessary
· Oversee on- and off-site clinical practica
· Maintain good working relationship with external practicum educators
· Facilitate opportunities for professional development of clinical faculty
· Advocate for new or expanded programs
· Develop clinical programs to meet educational, community, and revenue needs
Minimum Position Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher
  • CCC-SLP
  • Eligible for Tennessee state licensure
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a clinical educator
  • Excellent communication, counseling/coaching, collaboration, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Commitment to addressing the professional need for a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Commitment to neurodiversity affirming practice
  • Following areas are desired, but not required:
    • Managerial experience
    • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement
    • Understanding of CFCC and CAA standards
    • Experience working in higher education
