AIR’s Information Technology (IT) team is seeking an experienced Cloud (AWS) Engineer I to join its innovative group.  This position reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure Operations.  In this role, you will work with a skilled and growing DevOps team to support, secure, and expand our footprint in AWS.

 

On a typical day in this role, you could be working alongside internal developers to deploy new solutions for our clients, assisting senior engineers with governance and security maturation efforts, or helping to test new solutions and optimization tools.  If you are a curious, driven engineer with great attention to detail and a desire to work as part of a collaborative, diverse, and dynamic team, then this is the role for you.

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Work with development teams to aid design, build, test, and deployment activities.
  • Work closely with the team to perform compliance monitoring activities (SSM), enforce security requirements, and define standards.
  • Perform upgrades and apply security and usability patches.
  • Assist with identifying and resolving hosting and infrastructure systems issues.
  • Update permissions sets and configure/modify SSO integrations.
  • Work with senior engineers to improve the reliability, scalability, and availability of sites, systems, and services.


Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or AWS intermediate-level certification.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in Infrastructure administration.
  • At least 2 years experience building and maintaining infrastructure in AWS, leveraging core services including EC2, S3, VPCs, security groups, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, SSM, and IAM.
  • Experience with deploying, configuring, and maintaining Linux server systems.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (e.g., subnetting, routing, and DNS)
  • Experience with microservices and containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, EKS) is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with DevOps pipeline technologies and tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Palumi, GitHub Actions) is a plus but not required.

 Skills:

  • Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to communicate with and understand the needs of both technical and non-technical internal and external clients.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a virtual, cross-functional diverse team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently, and collaboratively as needed.
  • Adept in a fast-paced environment to manage multiple concurrent deliveries.
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail.
  • The candidate should be able to obtain a Level 6C Security clearance (Public Trust Position) if required.

 AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $112,000 to $132,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
