About the Department

The Office of Clinical Research (OCR) is dedicated to supporting the infrastructure for the management and administration of clinical research at The University of Chicago as well as individual research programs with the goal of improving communication, consistency, and collaboration across the Biological Sciences Division and UChicago Medicine.
To mission of the OCR is to catalyze clinical research by providing expertise, resources, infrastructure, and systems that facilitate clinical research operations and enable collaboration across the enterprise while promoting compliance and human subject protection on behalf of our diverse community of patients and volunteers.
The Research Compliance section provides oversight, resources and training for compliant conduct of clinical research, with focus on process improvement & customer service.

Job Information
 

Clinical Trials Budget/Contract Manager for various and unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. (HQ: Chicago, IL) Facilitate the development and initiation of clinical trials with the University of Chicago. Build and negotiate clinical trial budgets and contract terms, on behalf of faculty and the Department, with industry, federal and private funding agencies. Advise Department faculty and staff on matters related to clinical trial budgets and contracts. Read and interpret clinical trial study documents including Protocol, Budget, Contract, Informed Consent, and Laboratory Manual. Ensure document harmonization and compliance, and facilitate timely execution of agreements. Collaborate with other departments, core facilities, and administrative offices to ensure efficient operations. Network with pharmaceutical, CRO, and non-profit counterparts to facilitate amicable and timely negotiations. Contribute to data analysis, using established and novel metrics, to advance efficiency and profitability. Monitor processing of Institutional Review Board submissions and approval of clinical trial protocols. Manage concurrent projects with competing deadlines, complexity and priority. Research new avenues of funding and grant opportunities and promoting relevant opportunities. Collaborate with and provide guidance and direction to sponsors to draft proposal budgets. Review all applications against University guidelines; draft progress reports, non-competing applications, amendments, and budgeting. Responsible for data entry and preparation of grant reports and trend analysis.



Additional Requirements ​​
 

Education, Experience, or Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Finance or a related field plus three years of experience in job offered or in research project management or as Clinical Research Coordinator required. Required skills: Experience with academic medical operations, clinical research methods, clinical research funding sources, federal regulations for grant writing, non-federal regulations for grant writing, federal grant and contract policies for academic and medical research, and non-federal grant and contract policies for academic and medical research. 100% telecommuting permitted.

Salary Range:

$83,408-$93,204
