|Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor of Anatomic Pathology
Department of Biomedical Sciences
College of Veterinary Medicine
The Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University invites applications for a clinical track anatomic pathology faculty position in the Section of Anatomic Pathology. This expansion of the section will result in a total of eight pathologists with the goals of providing excellent diagnostic services (necropsy and biopsy), training eight residents and up to two pathology fellows, teaching veterinary students in the preclinical years, on the necropsy rotation and the histopathology elective, and supporting robust basic and clinical research programs. The successful candidate will work with the staff of the histopathology and necropsy laboratories in a state-of-the-art diagnostic center with capabilities including digital microscopy, a variety of diagnostic modalities such as immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization, and a BSL-3 laboratory.
Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree and have completed a three-year residency in veterinary pathology. Board certification in veterinary pathology (ACVP) is preferred, but board eligible individuals are also encouraged to apply.
Distribution of effort in the section and department will be determined in accordance with the service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s expertise and academic goals. The percentage of time spent on clinical teaching and service in the Animal Health Diagnostic Center, lecture and laboratory instruction of veterinary students, residents and fellows, and independent and/or collaborative research expectations is negotiable. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist at the College and University, including Weill Medical College and technology campuses in New York City.
Diagnostic duties require flexible working hours that may include daytime, evening, and weekend responsibilities. The candidate should have strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with clinicians at the Cornell University Hospital for Animals and at external clinics.
