Responsibilities

The Group Support Facilitator is responsible for implementing the Love and Support element of the UCLA Ornish Lifestyle Medicine Program, facilitating the power of connection within each cohort, and monitoring the response of each participant to the group support process when filling in for the Group Support Facilitator. The Group Support Facilitator – Per Diem will assist the Group Support Facilitator as needed in the screening and ongoing evaluation of participants.  This position will also be scheduled on an as needed basis; no regular schedule.



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

  • LCSW or equivalent licensed mental health professional
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 1 year in a clinical setting working with patients and/or groups dealing with chronic illness
  • Ability to facilitate a process of self-expression and active listening in a way that can create connection, community and intimacy among group participants
  • Ability to model and promote verbalization of feelings, and an empathic listening presence
  • Experience working with the psychosocial issues that may arise when making lifestyle changes
  • Excellent public speaking skills and knowledge of adult education and coaching principles
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with sensitivity to participant needs
  • Desire and willingness to collaborate as a member of a high-functioning transdisciplinary team that supports personal transformation
  • Competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
