Job Summary

Supervises staff involved in routine research study coordination. Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Oversees staff in execution of assignments; trains and mentors staff to improve quality and quantity of work.

The candidate will provide direction and operational leadership of 2-3 clinical research studies in the program under the guidance of the Clinical Operations Manager at BASIC and/or PI to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and of high-quality in compliance with ICH GCP, Internal SOPs and all other applicable regulations.

The candidate will oversees staff in execution of assignments; trains and mentors staff to improve quality and quantity of work. The Clinical Research Supervisor should be experienced in project management, a critical thinker, and capable of problem solving and aligning the priorities with trial outcomes and timelines.

A good candidate should demonstrate clinical development experience of all stages of trial start up and operation, preferably working in or leading affiliate teams, working with vendors, and reporting to agencies. Multi-tasks and prioritizes to smoothly coordinate studies and ensure patient safety.

Evaluates assigned staff performance and reports to management, including recommendations for salary actions, promotions, and terminations. Oversees all aspects of the assigned clinical trials, including the quality and integrity of multi-modal data, source documentation, data submissions, patient safety, billing, and reporting results.

Department Description

Within the Department of Neurological Surgery, the Brain and Spinal Injury Center (BASIC) is a large clinical and research division with over 40 physicians, nurses, research faculty, staff and trainees at the ZSFG Hospital & Trauma Center campus. Many colleagues from other departments, other universities throughout the US, and other countries form an active group of investigators and staff with whom we collaborate. The incumbent will serve as a member of the BASIC traumatic brain injury (TBI) clinical research team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
• 3+ years of related experience.
• 1+ years of lead/supervisory/management experience.
• Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society within one year in a position
• Working knowledge of clinical or laboratory research, clinical trial recruitment, eligibility, protocol adherence, quality data submission and adverse event reporting.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, prioritize projects and meet the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree preferred.
• Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration. Demonstrated experience in training others, particularly in the field of research.
• Critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution.
• Clear and concise communicator; good verbal and written communication skills; both.
• Good interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, mentorship. Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Works well with others to achieve common goals. Ability to cultivate relationships with multiple stakeholders at various levels of administration.
• Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Effectively uses campus' clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems.
• 5 Years of experience implementing and monitoring clinical studies, preferably involving multi-site human subject studies in the neuroscience space

License/Certification

• Clinical Trial Professional certification from a professional society within one year in a position
