Job Overview

The College of Medicine, UC Cancer Center is looking for a Clinical Research Professional. This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.
Under general supervision of the Clinical Trial Office, the Clinical Research Professional provides clinical program quality and data management support and assistance to the Division of Hematology/Oncology in support of the Bone Marrow Transplant and Hematologic Malignancies initiatives. Duties can span a broad range of activities, or be primarily focused within one or more areas of the clinical research spectrum. 


Essential Functions

Clinical Outcomes and Data Management 

  • Organizing and managing multidisciplinary hematologic malignancy weekly tumor board
  • Review clinic operations for new patients for inclusion in database/tumor board discussion
  • Accurately enters data from electronic medical records into electronic data capture systems in a timely manner 
  • Disease specific treatment and outcome modeling
  • Ongoing patient outcome and toxicity monitoring
  • Proactively seeks to promptly resolve data clarity issues relating to missing or incomplete information through collaboration with Hematology/Oncology Division faculty.
  • Maintains and uses organizational systems (excel, EDCs, etc...) to track patient visits or other relevant milestones in order to avoid delinquent data entry.
  • Reviews all data captured in relevant databases to identify and help resolve any general quality issues as needed. 
  • Communicates and collaborates within assigned team and with faculty/principal investigators in a professional, helpful and service-oriented manner to effectively accomplish job duties.
  • Acts as a liaison between clinical and quality personnel

 

Data collection forms and Database (EDC) Development

  • Actively provides input on data capture considerations to faculty (form design, RedCAP database builds).
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with faculty, clinical staff, and clinical research team to design, implement, and maintain protocol specific forms and requirements.
  • Able to independently maintain and meet form & database development milestones effectively (e.g., forms and checklists are developed and tested prior to entry of patient data)
  • Develop related SOPs and workflows

Required Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree must be in a related field. 
  • Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.

Required Trainings/Certifications
  • For nursing focused role, BSN in the area of clinical specialization, and RN License in State of Ohio. 
  • For social work focused role, licensure in the area of clinical specialization.

Required Experience
  • One (1) year of related experience.
  • For nursing focused roles, appropriate clinical procedural experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Two (2) years’ experience of relevant experience in an academic or clinical setting. 
  • Prior experience in hematology, RN or BSN, and data/quality management. 
  • High attention to detail and organizational ability and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Can accomplish work independently.
  • Capable of advising and explaining information to others.
  • Ability to manage moderately complex projects. 
  • Working knowledge of, and ability to apply, Good Documentation Practices, ALCOA, and ICH-GCP to data management, form and database design.
