Job Description Summary:
The Research Coordinator will lead several NIH and foundation funded research projects for the Department of Pediatrics, working with a team of coordinators who are already in place. Primary duties include all aspects of engaging in the research projects such as data collection, data entry, literature review, delivery of intervention services, coordination across sites and reporting to the Principal Investigator as well as to the Vice Chair for Research and other Department leadership.

Required Qualifications

Education: Graduate degree (Registered Dietician or Master of Science degree).

Work Experience:

  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, primary Word.

  • Experience using SPSS statistical software.

  • Previous research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Ph.D.

Work Experience:

  • Research experience with children and families is preferred.

  • Experience with regulations governing clinical research (CFR, GCP, HIPAA)

  • Experience with statutes and guidelines relevant to regulatory affairs in clinical research.

  • Experience using study budgets, contracts, and grant applications.

Skills:

  • Excellent communication, writing, organizational and presentation skills.

  • Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, administrative staff.

  • Ability to recognize competing priorities and deadlines and seek guidance in management of these where needed.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Support recruitment and retention of participants/patients across the range of pediatric projects, including the development and implementation of recruitment protocols/processes and promotional materials.

  • Identify and contact potential participants from KU Pediatrics Scheduling and electronic health records systems as well as in the community. Liaise with broader scheduling personnel to promote recruitment.

  • Assist the team with patient/family-centered approaches associated with recruitment. Liaise with KU Pediatrics administrative personnel, including billing personnel to gather data related to internal reports and economic evaluations.

  • Complete Human Subjects/IRB HIPPAA Requirements related to pediatric telemedicine projects, including both research and quality improvement projects.

  • Assist in developing pediatric telemedicine databases in order to support efficient data collection and data analysis related to the range of pediatric projects.

  • Oversee protocols and personnel to ensure participant completion of participant paperwork, scoring of questionnaires and conveying information to the clinical team.

  • Assist PI's with project meetings, including scheduling, participating and completing meeting minutes.

  • Managing all aspects of the projects such as data collection, data entry, literature review.

  • Delivery of intervention services, coordination across sites and reporting to the Principal Investigator.

  • Maintain source documents and submit case report forms (CRFs) as required for clinical trials. 

  • Recognize and report adverse events/serious adverse events to the Principal Investigator, FDA, and sponsors.

  • Perform study procedures, as outlined in the protocol and within state and institutional scope of practice. 

  • Work closely with the Research Institute and Human Research Protection Program and have a working knowledge of KUMC policies and procedures.

  • Attend continuing education, research and training seminars as requested by manager.

  • Other projects as assigned by leadership

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
