The Department of Psychology and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center have a new opportunity for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator 2 to assist research projects relating to quality of life, resilience, and mind-body medicine in the context of cancer and/or aging. This work lies at an exciting intersection between health and behavior. The role provides an excellent opportunity for those interested in behavioral health interventions and randomized trials in clinical settings. The Clinical Research Coordinator 2 serves as a mid-level clinical research professional who assists in the planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating of clinical research studies. This role assists in the day-to-day operations of clinical research protocol implementation and carries out study coordination duties from protocol initiation to study close-out. The incumbent works closely with study team members, clinicians, and other study sites to ensure participant safety and protocol adherence, to help with study-related administrative tasks, and to coordinate study activities.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                          

  • Assists in participant screening, recruitment and retention activities.
  • Performs data collection and daily operations of clinical research protocols.
  • Maintains study binders and filings according to protocol requirements, UM and department policy.
  • Monitors, documents, reports, and follows-up on study unanticipated events and protocol deviations.
  • Assists in implementing protocol amendments under supervision of the Principal Investigator.
  • Assists with study orientations to research team and clinical staff.
  • Monitors protocol implementation and study progress.
  • Assists with communications with sponsors, collaborators, administrative personnel, and departments.
  • Assists in study personnel orientation.
  • Adheres to cultural competency guidelines; implements strategies to meet study participants’ needs for language translation, health literacy, etc.
  • Maintains requisite skills and mandatory training in safety, equality, responsible conduct of research.

Minimum Qualifications                                                                                                        

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in psychology, public health, pre-medicine or related field

Experience: 

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

This position offers excellent opportunities to learn about treatments and strategies for promoting health behaviors, quality of life, and resilience among patients and families in the context of cancer and/or aging. The incumbent will work under the supervision of study investigators. As part of this role, additional opportunities may include assisting with scholarly tasks including the preparation of scientific abstracts, posters, and presentations; conducting literature reviews and synthesizing relevant data; conducting participant interviews; coding qualitative data; and reviewing intervention session recordings.
