The department for Psychiatry has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Research Associate 1. The Research Associate 1, SOM supports research activities for the assigned division by conducting laboratory experiments on assigned research projects. Moreover, the incumbent operates with the goal of advancing his/her expertise through continued education, training, and research.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.

  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
  • Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research.
  • Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.
  • Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.
  • Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

Department specific functions

This position will support our ongoing studies and laboratory operations. Projects are NIH-funded and include innovative MRI-based imaging approaches, investigations of neuroinflammation, and the use of behavioral paradigms to probe reward processing in mood and anxiety disorders in adults and adolescents. 

Responsibilities include any combination of research participant-related activities such as recruitment, screening, psychiatric assessment, data collection, analysis, and management using electronic data capture systems, interaction with patient’s treatment team, imaging acquisition, and preparation of manuscripts. The CRC 2 will ensure that studies are conducted according to protocol design and will report deviations as they arise, and maintain study files such as regulatory documents, correspondence, case report forms and data files. They will perform activities related to regulatory compliance such as IRB submissions, mandates issued by the study sponsor, and any other regulatory entity.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in neuroscience or psychology with previous research experience. The position may be located in either New York City or Miami.
