Position Summary | This position will serve in the role of Clinical Research Assistant to meet the increased research support needs for the growing clinical research portfolio of the UNC Blood Research Center. Our colleagues in this research program include hematologists, clinical nurses, study coordinators, research assistants, students, and other allied health professionals. Our primary aim is to make a positive impact on patients in the hematological disorder community through the execution of high-impact clinical trial projects. The current focuses of our research portfolio are both federal and industry sponsored phase II, III, and IV interventional clinical trials, registry projects, as well as outcomes research. These trials cover the areas of bleeding and clotting disorders, gene therapy, prevention trials, and treatment trials. This position will primarily serve alongside other members of our clinical research team to (1) assist in the implementation of a variety of assigned study protocols as well as to (2) gather, analyze, and report on project specific data for the purposes of project-specific quality assurance, quality control and operational effectiveness. Specifically, the Clinical Research Assistant will assist our research coordinators with a wide variety of activities, including but not limited to the identification, screening, recruitment, and consenting of research participants, planning and execution of study visits, collecting and processing of study samples, guiding our research participants through various clinical research projects, data management, maintaining regulatory documentation, collaborating with various research professionals and clinical teams internal and external to UNC, and ensuring study-related invoices and budgets are submitted and paid appropriately. Completion of some assigned duties will require the research assistant to be on-site while others may be completed remotely. Schedule of on-site and remote work hours will be dependent on and subjects to change based on specific project and program needs. The position and the collaborative environment in the Blood Research Center, School of Medicine, and UNC-wide provides valuable opportunities for both professional and personal growth. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Excellent communication skills and the ability to successfully work as both a collaborative team member and independently. Must be willing to support a flexible schedule to meet project and program needs. Attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience | Experiences with the following: human subjects research, direct patient contact, serving on a team, and data management. Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills are preferred. The ability to observe, collect, and record a variety of data/information within well-defined research parameters and maintain accurate documentation of data/information. |
