Job Overview

As one of the oldest medical schools in the country, the UC College of Medicine has a reputation for training best-in-class health care professionals and developing cutting-edge procedures and research that improves the health and clinical care of patients.
The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant which will recruit and enroll patients in the emergency room, and other floors of the hospital, into clinical research studies. The responsibilities include documenting participant information, interacting with research participants & clinical teams, completing study-related data entry and processing specimens.


Essential Functions
  • Work alongside physicians, nurses and other researchers to enroll patients into clinical trials. 
  • Perform routine physical/clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, blood pressure, pulse, etc.
  • Complete follow-up visits with enrolled participants including scheduling tests and appointments.
  • Clean/maintain the lab spaces and equipment (temperatures, restocking, etc.).
  • Provide knowledge to patients regarding open and available research studies and complete necessary paperwork to ensure the patient is correctly enrolled and all data is collected. 
  • Accurately enter data from medical records into research records.
  • Perform other duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
     

Required Education
  • High School Diploma or GED

Additional Qualifications Considered

Bachelor’s Degree (Biology, Neuroscience, or a science related field)

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
