The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Med-Pulmonary/Allergy/Critical Care, is seeking a Clinical Research Administrator II. This position will work as part of a team of research finance professionals. Preparation of pre and post-award submissions to the Office of Sponsored Programs sponsoring agency (Federal, Foundations, and industry) including budget review, development, and negotiation. Post-award management of clinical trials will be required.

General Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contract principles, federal regulations, laws and UAB policy and operating procedures.
  • To serve as liaison to the UAB Offices of Industry Engagement and Sponsored Programs in negotiation of confidentiality agreements (CDAs), contracts, and amendments related to the conduct of clinical research activities.
  • To identify conflicts of interest, legal, IP and business/financial risk.
  • To maintain familiarity with appropriate Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and regulations.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identifies and mitigates business/financial risk through working with physicians/faculty, divisions, legal, and/or other departments.
  • Assists in preparing, developing, reviewing, and negotiating industry and sponsored research clinical trial budgets for consistency with UAB policies and operating procedures.
  • Identifies and obtains funding sufficient to successfully execute clinical research as applicable.
  • Maintains the study's compliance with institutional requirements.
  • Conducts literature reviews.
  • Assesses and determines solutions for operational shortcomings of protocols.
  • Assists colleagues in identifying efficiencies and improving processes.
  • Assists in managing accounts across studies as needed.
  • Works with sponsors/study team to arrange required trainings and meetings.
  • Assists in formulating and implementing the goals for the operation of the research program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Annual Salary Range:     $47,665 - $61,965

     

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    • Candidate must demonstrate working knowledge of Oracle Finance HR along with BA software which is the internal finance accounting used by the Division for financial reporting.
    • Self-motivation and time management.
    • Candidate should be highly organized with attention to detail. 
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor are necessary, as the position is required to meet with faculty regularly and review their research portfolios.
