The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Neurology Chair Office, is seeking a Clinical Research Administrator II.

 

This position plays a vital role in supporting the efficient functioning of the UAB Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC), particularly with the Admin Core and the Research Education Component (REC). This position will oversee various administrative tasks crucial for the smooth operation of the center.

 

The mission of the UAB Alzheimer's Disease Center is to overcome Alzheimer's disease and related disorders by conducting, fostering, and enabling research at UAB and through national collaborations, by providing the highest level of care to patients and families, and by educating both professionals and the public about aging, dementia, and brain health. Our research is aimed at reducing Deep South disparities in Alzheimer's disease.

General Responsibilities

  • To demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of contract principles, federal regulations, laws and UAB policy and operating procedures.
  • To serve as liaison to the UAB Offices of Industry Engagement and Sponsored Programs in negotiation of confidentiality agreements (CDAs), contracts, and amendments related to the conduct of clinical research activities.
  • To identify conflicts of interest, legal, IP and business/financial risk.
  • To maintain familiarity with appropriate Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and regulations.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Meeting Coordination: Schedule and organize seminars, workshops, and monthly conferences, including Continuing Medical Education (CME) events, overseeing logistical arrangements, and ensuring smooth execution. Coordinate meetings for the ADRC, including faculty meetings, recruitment visits, and progress report discussions. Facilitate recording meetings and tracking of attendees.
  • Developmental Grant Program Support: Assist in coordinating the review process for Developmental Grant program applications, liaising with relevant stakeholders to ensure a thorough and efficient review process.
  • Data and Document Management: Facilitate the collection and organization of data and documents required for progress reports and grant renewals, ensuring timely submission and compliance. Track progress, publications, and accomplishments of REC scholars.
  • Staff support: Manage the procurement of supplies for the ADRC.
  • Travel Coordination: Coordinate travel arrangements for faculty and staff, including booking flights, accommodations, and transportation as needed.
  • Admin Core Support: Provide administrative support to the ADRC Administrator, assisting with various projects and initiatives as needed. Maintain multiple e-mail distribution lists.
  • Research Education Component Support: Provide support to the Research Education Component, assisting with various projects and initiatives as needed. Maintain multiple e-mail distribution lists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Annual Salary Range:     $47,665 - $77,455

     

    Qualifications

     

    Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    • The ideal candidate will have previous research experience, strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
