ASSISTANT or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR FACULTY POSITION

Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Practice

Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) College of Pharmacy in affiliation with Regional One Health, is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track faculty member at the level of assistant or associate professor in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Translational Science.

Typical responsibilities of the position are summarized below:

Teaching:  The Department Chair or designee will assign teaching responsibilities that may include didactic lecturing, experiential training, course directorship, and participating in various other teaching activities. The starting estimated per cent effort in teaching is 40%.

Scholarship:  Develop, grow, and maintain national recognition in Pediatric Infectious Diseases through an active program of scholarship that includes peer-reviewed publications on a regular annual basis. Seek and apply for external funding. Presentations at national, regional, and local meetings are expected. The starting estimated percent effort in scholarship is 15%.

Service:  Establish and maintain local, state, and national recognition in the field of Pediatric Infectious Diseases practice. Participate in College, Departmental, and UTHSC Campus committees as deemed appropriate. The starting estimated percent effort in service is 10%.

Patient Care:  Provide outstanding Pediatric Infectious Diseases pharmacy services, participate in antimicrobial stewardship efforts, and educate pharmacy residents. Starting estimated percent effort in patient care is 35%.

Basic Qualifications: 

Successful candidates will hold a PharmD degree and have completed a PGY-2 Infectious Disease Pharmacy Residency or Fellowship with extensive Infectious Diseases/Antimicrobial Stewardship experience or have at least 5 years of experience in the area. Candidates must be eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Tennessee.

Applicants should demonstrate excellence as an engaging and effective communicator (written and oral), teacher, mentor, and eligible or already Board-Certified Infectious Disease Pharmacist (BCIDP). Experience in classroom and small group learning settings with lecturing, active learning, and facilitating recitations and co-curricular activities are required. Core clinical service responsibilities include Antimicrobial Stewardship/Infectious Diseases patient care and participation in the Regional One Health Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee. Ability to work independently and with others in a team environment is a requirement. A commitment to diversity and inclusivity in working with students, faculty, staff, community members, and stakeholders is expected. Demonstrated ability or potential to produce scholarly activity in an academic setting in the form of peer-reviewed publications is essential. Candidates who have a PharmD, a record of peer-reviewed publications, and evidence of funded grants are preferred.
