SALARY RANGE: $90,251 - $147,285 (final salary based on work experience)

 

ABOUT THE JOB

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

·        Develop department budget(s) in collaboration with physician partner(s), finance, and executive leadership. Monitor expenditures and maintain operational costs within the department budget, utilizing human and material resources in a cost-effective manner.

·        Ensure 24-hour staffing is appropriate for the level of acuity while recognizing the diverse skill levels of individual staff members and the unique needs of the patient population. 

·        Incorporate research and evidence-based knowledge in the development of practice and process improvement initiatives. Facilitate a Shared Governance model of practice, that empowers staff to take appropriate action to assure excellence in care delivery and improved patient outcomes. 

·        Develop an ownership culture where all staff holds accountability for policy and procedure implementation and excellent patient-centered care. 

·        Interview and hiring of qualified candidates, ensure orientation and onboarding of new staff, evaluate the performance of staff, and recommend staff promotion, timely use of corrective and disciplinary actions, inclusive of terminations as necessary. Evaluate and document staff competency on a regular basis by direct observation, peer review, standardized orientation, and employee input. Coach staff to foster continued growth and professional development. 

·        Maintain standards of care utilizing clinically appropriate standards set by regulatory, licensing, or specialty organizations. This includes the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as the foundation for nursing practice. Assure staff meets the standards and regulatory requirements for accrediting bodies, state, and federal agencies. 

·        Promote and achieve high satisfaction of external and internal customers. Effectively intercede with families and/or patients and resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care services. 

·        Systematically evaluate the quality and effectiveness of clinical practice, analyzing appropriate internal and external data and information to identify opportunities for improving services and patient outcomes in collaboration with physician partners and key stakeholders. Initiate actions relative to evaluation and assessment to include all related departments and individuals. 

·        Develop a system that assures all expected metrics and outcomes are achieved and maintained, including follow-through and integration of all departmental or system-led initiatives. 

·        Dyad of clinical manager and physician leader(s) will be responsible and held accountable for expected outcomes and achievements in areas of responsibility. Metrics are subject to ongoing or annual change. Metrics include patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction, volume/growth, finance (including revenues and expenses) to meet or beat budgeted expectations, FTE management, man-hour per statistic (or similar measure), staff turnover, and applicable quality metrics (i.e. Value Based Purchasing measures, readmission rates, reduction of PSO reportable incidents, etc.). 

·        Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of coverage and continuity of care. 

·        Monitor and oversee time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely approval for payroll purposes. 

·        May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

·        Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. 

·        Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. 

·        Five (5) years of nursing experience in a hospital setting. 

·        Two (2) years of managerial or supervisory experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·        Master's degree in business or a healthcare-related field. 

·        Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
