Job Description

The Department of Teaching and Educational Studies (TES) in the College of Education (COE) at Idaho State University invites applicants for a 9 month Clinical Instructor position; this is a non-tenure track position. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2024.

This position will be based on ISU’s Twin Falls campus. The Department of TES currently offers undergraduate majors in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, Music Education, and Early Childhood Education. Additionally, TES offers Masters-level programs for currently certified teachers in Deaf Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Music Education, and Special Education as well as a Masters of Arts in Education for those who hold an undergraduate degree outside of education but are seeking a masters degree and Idaho teacher certification.

This position requires a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and a strong understanding of research-based teaching practices. Additionally, the person hired for this position will be located in the greater Twin Falls region and is expected to support the outreach efforts of TES and the COE in southern and western Idaho.

Key Responsibilities

Workload will consist of teaching four courses per semester (80%), and engaging in various service activities per semester (20%). Specific responsibilities will include:
• Teach courses in the undergraduate educator preparation program, and potentially graduate level courses as needed, using a variety of instructional modalities, including face to face, distance/remote technologies, or hybrid/Hyflex variations
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service
• Travel within the greater Twin Falls region and other areas of Idaho as needed to support COE outreach efforts
• Support the recruitment and retention efforts of TES and the COE
• Strong commitment to teaching and service initiatives as set forth by the department, college, and university
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and constituents to promote and enhance the profile and reputation of the ISU College of Education

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Education or appropriately related field
• At least three years of successful teaching experience within K-12 schools
• Strong organizational and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching in higher education
• Experience teaching using a variety of modalities
• Substantial experience with the Danielson Framework for Teaching
• Experience working in, or supporting, schools in rural and remote areas
• Knowledge of schools within the greater Magic Valley and southern Idaho
• Mentoring, observing and evaluating pre-service and/or in-service teachers


Additional Information
