Job Summary

The School of Nursing at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applicants to apply for full-time non-tenure-track, clinical instructor faculty positions at salary commensurate with experience. The 9-month contract includes the option to work in summer as the nursing program is offered year-round. Position is available at our Longview campus to begin in Summer or Fall 2024.

Essential Functions

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Primary teaching of on-site nursing courses, conducting clinical experiences for BSN students on the Longview campus.
  • Assisting other classroom faculty as needed.
  • Mentoring and advising students.
  • Participating in School and University Service

 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing.
  • Clinical experience nursing.
  • Eligible for Texas licensure.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in nursing education.
  • BSN teaching experience.

 

Nursing Program

The highly respected accelerated BSN program enrolls over 700 pre-nursing and 680 nursing students each semester across three campuses located in Tyler, Longview, and Palestine, Texas.  An on-line ADN-BSN, RN-BSN, and RN MSN track provides associate degree and diploma prepared registered nurses opportunity to earn a BSN and an MSN from an accredited, respected program. A concurrent ADN-BSN program provides current associate degree students the opportunity to simultaneously earn their BSN. Online graduate programs are nationally ranked among the top in the country by US News & World Report.  We offer the Master of Science (MSN) -- Nursing Administration; MSN -- Nursing Education; MSN -- Informatics, Quality & Safety; MSN-- Family Nurse Practitioner and MSN -- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  Post bachelor’s and post master’s certificates are available in each of these specialty areas. Doctoral programs include a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Nursing and Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP).   New doctoral level offerings include an Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse practitioner certificate and a Nurse Anesthesia degree. Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
