Clinical Instructor- EMS

The Department of Emergency Medical Services has been providing excellence in the field since 1974.  This position as an Assistant EMS Instructor, will help to instruct EMS students in accordance with program policies and procedures, facilitating classroom and laboratory sessions, as well as student supervision during clinical practicum and field internship shifts. Included will be the responsibility to serve as American Heart Association (AHA) Coordinator, with primary responsibility for the ongoing coordination of all AHA courses, including course scheduling, instructor assignments, instructor training, support for affiliated instructor/training agencies, reporting, inspections, and other general administration of the AHA program. Other responsibilities, assignments, and tasks may be added based on changing EMS department needs.

Associate’s degree required in related medical, public safety, educational, or administrative field of study. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Two years of patient care experience in an emergency or critical care environment, preferably including field experience in the delivery of out-of-hospital emergency care. Knowledge about the principles of adult education and of the emergency medical services profession is essential. Strong organizational skills, attentive to details, effective communication and documentation skills, teamwork, leadership, and knowledge of medical/educational/computer skills are necessary.
