Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Position Summary

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina is seeking a per diem Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to work in the Emergency Department. The Clinical Social Worker is responsible for the screening, ongoing evaluation, and treatment of patients presenting with mental health or substance abuse complaints. Professional work in augmenting the primary health care physician in making psychiatric diagnosis and providing psychiatric treatment including but not limited to giving a psychiatric diagnosis, providing supportive therapy and providing resources and disposition collaboration with the multi -disciplinary crisis team. Position always function under in an Emergency setting. Candidates with LCSW-A will be considered. This position is per diem and works rotating shifts.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master’s degree in Social Work and licensed in the state of North Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

One year of professional social work experience, preferably in emergency and crisis situations.
