Summary

The Department of Pathology at Michigan Medicine is seeking a qualified candidate for a clinical instructor/clinical assistant/clinical associate/clinical professor position. This faculty recruitment is for a new incremental position within the Division of Molecular and Genomics as the Section Director. This faculty member will direct the Molecular Genetics Laboratory (MGL), the molecular section of the Michigan Medical Genetics Laboratory (MMGL). The overall division of Molecular and Pathology includes Cytogenetics, MMGL-MGL (germline), and Molecular Diagnostic (somatic) Laboratories. The successful candidate will lead the molecular section of MMGL with oversight and direction of all technical activates within the laboratory as well as the section faculty performing technical review of the laboratory results. This person will also serve as the Liaison with the MMGL Medical Director in the Department of Pediatrics, and the faculty involved in clinical correlation and sign-out of results. They will share resposibility for the diagnostic interpretation, sign-out, test development, and clinical consultation in the clinical cytogenetics and molecular genetics testing laboratories as well as responsibility for somatic NGS review in the molecular dianostics laboratory. Active involvement in our teaching and research missions will also be expected.

Required Qualifications*

Doctor of Medicine degree (or equivalent), MD/PhD, or PhD, American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) board certified or board eligible in CMGG or LGG. Experience with next generation sequencing (NGS) is required, and at least 5 years' experience in whole exome and/or whole genome sequencing is highly desired. A track record of peer-reviewed publications, clinical excellence, and commitment to education is desirable.
