Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine, in conjunction with ECU Health Medical Center, provides clinical services in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology for hospital patients and clinic patients. The mission of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine is to improve the health and well-being of the citizens of eastern North Carolina and beyond by delivering high quality pathology services, by providing exemplary education, and by creating new knowledge through research. Our core goals serve as the guiding framework for the Department’s pathology services and education efforts: Provide timely pathology services of the highest quality; Be recognized as exceptional educators by providing the best education for all learners regardless of specialty choice; Be valued as researchers and research collaborators; Leverage new technology to provide better service; Continuously improve the services provided; Be the dominant pathology group in the region, distinguished by specialty expertise, and by an extensive and unique list of services; Be at the forefront of applying new technology to the clinical practice. As the field of Pathology continues to evolve, the Department will uphold its commitment to provide the best diagnosis and treatment monitoring services to the citizens of eastern North Carolina.
Job Duties
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks part-time faculty pathologists to fill various needs in surgical, clinical, and forensic pathology. It is anticipated that candidates will provide services on a part-time, temporary, periodic basis for up to 30 hours per week, as needed. Board certified pathologists with varying backgrounds, disciplines, and interests in pathology are encouraged to apply.

Minimum Education/Experience
Must have an MD or DO or MBBS from an appropriately accredited institution, or completed foreign medical education accepted and recognized for ECFMG Certification. Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of North Carolina. Board Certified or eligible for board certification.
