Position Description: | The Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Iowa (UI) invites applications for an academic-year clinical-track faculty position at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor in the field of Educational or Instructional Technology, with a focus on technology integration in K12 environments and teacher education. The successful candidate will demonstrate active engagement in equity, inclusivity, and anti-racist education, which are critical practices within our department and the College of Education. This is a full-time academic-year (9 month) clinical track faculty position with an initial three-year appointment beginning August 14, 2024 with possibility of renewal. The clinical track at the University of Iowa has a career progression that includes promotion (assistant, associate, full professor). The College of Education provides support for clinical faculty in professional development, conference travel, and scholarship related to clinical faculty members’ areas of work. Clinical faculty are expected to teach the equivalent of 3-4 courses per semester and engage in other program-related responsibilities such as curriculum development and student advising. This position is essential to addressing the critical need for teachers and specialists to be prepared in current technology for teaching and learning. The successful candidates will benefit from growing opportunities for unique collaborations and support found in Department of Teaching and Learning with nine K12 Licensure program areas and a robust teacher education program. Opportunities to collaborate include work with the Education Technology Center in the College as well as the Baker Teacher Leader Center . Responsibilities involve coordinating and teaching an introductory teacher education course that all teacher education students complete early in their programs; supervising graduate assistants in multiple sections of this course; participating in grant activities to secure funding for professional productivity and curriculum development; and establishing connections with departments across the UI campus, with local schools, and within the local community. Faculty are required to engage in at least 4 hours per semester of collaboration and contribute to instruction in K-12 classrooms. The successful candidate will be involved with local, state, and national activities that support Educational Technology as well as equity in teacher education. They will also participate in service activities to the program, department, college, and university. Salary Highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. About the Department The Department of Teaching and Learning (T & L) at the University of Iowa includes over 40 faculty members and over 1000 students in nine program areas.
