Job Description: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont is actively seeking a full-time Clinical Pathologist with a specialty expertise in Clinical Chemistry. The hospital-based, clinical laboratory at the University of Vermont Medical Center provides patient care testing as part of the UVM Health Network, and serves as a regional reference laboratory for Vermont, New York, and New Hampshire clients. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified individual to contribute to a dynamic healthcare setting and experience the excellent quality of life available in northern Vermont.
Highlights:

  • Work in the Division of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
  • Join 2 faculty colleagues in the section of Clinical Chemistry, which performs both high-volume and specialized testing for patient care.
  • Engage in educational activities for laboratory technical staff, medical students, residents, and clinicians.
  • Pursue scholarly activities and clinical research, with initial academic support provided for three years.
  • Partner with colleagues at the Laboratory for Clinical Biochemistry Research (LCBR). The LCBR is a biorepository for multiple NIH funded cohort and clinical studies and the core laboratory for biomarker assays. LCBR investigators work in numerous disciplines including epidemiology, biochemistry and trans-omic research. 

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with board certification/eligibility in Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology, AND/OR
  • PhD in chemical/clinical laboratory sciences with board eligibility/certification approved by Health and Human Services
  • A strong commitment to teaching and research in an academic setting.
  • Interest in contributing to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching and/or service.
