Responsibilities*
  • As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the nurse in this role will provide nursing care to patients and families of the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant ACU. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family; assesses the needs of the patients in the pediatric cancer clinic; plans, implements, and evaluated patient care; teaches patients and caregivers; and orients colleagues and peers.
  • The pediatric cancer clinic RN includes telephone management, patient and family education, assistance with procedures, daily clinic operations management, functional supervision of assistive personnel and other responsibilities as related to this patient population.
  • The pediatric hematology/oncology/BMT clinical care coordinator RN will support patient care activities in the clinic including but not limited to patient assessment, education, and direct patient care. Telephone triage will be a primary function of the clinic RN.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses $39.47 - $61.39 / hour

Required Qualifications*

Required Educational Requirement (applicant must meet one of the following):
Bachelors degree in Nursing - OR - Associates degree or diploma in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing

Current license to practice nursing in the State of Michigan.

One(1) year current  RN experience in Hematology/Oncology.

One (1) year current RN experience in pediatric nursing.

Desired Qualifications*
  • One (1) year (in the last 5 years) RN experience in ambulatory care.   
  • RN experience with hematology/oncology patients in ambulatory care setting (clinic, infusion or care navigation).                                
  • RN experience with pediatric patients in the ambulatory care setting. 

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: 40 hrs

Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift; Mon-Fri, includes Saturdays. Hours may be variable (nontraditional including further weekends/holidays commitment) based on patient and volume needs. 8-hour shifts; variable hours between 8 AM ? 5:30 PM

Location: Pediatric Cancer Clinic- 7th floor Mott Children's Hospital. This includes some work from home; but, this is not a fully remote position (subject to change based on unit needs). The nurse will be required to see patient in clinic.

All new employees are expected to float in times of low census. Flexible hours to meet program needs.


Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
