Job Summary

The University of Michigan, Department of Cardiac Surgery, Section of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery is seeking a Clinical Track faculty member. Primary responsibility will be to serve as a cardiac surgeon at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital.  This position will be required to provide on-call coverage as part of their overall responsibilities.  On-call duty is shared by fellow faculty in the Section of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery and may vary depending on staffing availability.  This position will need to be flexible in providing backup coverage and clinical reassignments as needed. Successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the education of medical students, residents, and fellows who are rotating through the inpatient and outpatient services.


Required Qualifications*

The preferred candidate will have an MD or DO degree and completed an ACGME-accredited thoracic and congenital cardiac surgery residencies. The candidate must be Board certified in congenital cardiac surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and proficient in all such aspects of pediatric cardiovascular surgery.  A minimum of five years’ experience as faculty and an established operative log in congenital heart surgery is required.  The candidate must possess exceptional teamwork, program development and mentorship abilities.  Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected.  Preferred candidate must possess or be eligible for a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.


Desired Qualifications*

Transplant/VAD experience and UNOS certification is desired.
