RSPP Management. Participate in curriculum development and management in conjunction with the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator.  Meet weekly with this group.  Help oversee logistics support for rural sites, student visits, housing, & monitoring curriculum in partnership with the Director and Coordinator. 

Rural Engagement. Engage in rural site recruitment and maintaining relationships with rural sites through the hospital administrations, physicians, managers, and others.

Outcomes.  Assist in monitoring of educational outcomes.  Work with the Director and Academic Dean’s office to nurture quality improvement of the RSPP.

Advocate.  Serve as a student advocate as the students navigate the RSPP program requirements.  Facilitate student communication about the rural experience and assist in debriefs.

Partner Organizations. Initiate and maintain ongoing professional contacts with physicians, health facilities, community organizations and institutions in the rural settings.  This includes partner organizations such as RIMSAP (Rural Illinois Medical Student Assistance Program), RMED (Rural Medical Education Program), and AHEC (Illinois Area Health Education Centers). 

Alumni. Liaison to RSPP Alumni developing and maintaining contacts as well as statistics on our graduates regarding years in practice in Rural Illinois as well as other locations.  RUCA (Rural-Urban Commuting Area Codes) will be utilized to standardize the definitions as these records are maintained. 

Funding. Pursue grant and philanthropic fundraising opportunities for program development. 

Recruitment. Participate in the recruitment of medical students, RSPP students, and the larger grass roots network of raising up rural doctors and those focused on the underserved.

Travel. Visits to partner institutions to foster collaboration will be necessary on occasion.

Internal Partners. Collaborate with campus programs and committees that promote medical, rural, and global health education.

Continuing Education.  Attend an education conference annually with focus on Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships, rural health, or medical education.

Optional Faculty Opportunity.  If Master Degree or PhD in Public Health, educate students and faculty on topics related to population health.  Participate in overseeing, advising, and grading of the RSPP Community Focused Health Projects.  Optional opportunities exist for related independent research or the CAT scholars program for clinical faculty.
