The University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee College of Health Professions & Sciences offers a wide array of health-related academic programs in biomedical sciences, global health, health care administration, nursing, the rehabilitation sciences, and sustainable peacebuilding serving 2300+ students. The School of Rehabilitation Sciences & Technology (RS&T) offers programs in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences & Disorders, Occupational Therapy, Sciences and Rehabilitation, and Therapeutic Recreation. The Department has a strong focus on Interprofessional education, research excellence and technology.
DPT Program
The Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) in the School of Rehabilitation Sciences and Technology is situated within the College of Health Professions & Sciences, the largest such academic unit in the state. Within UWM, the College collaborates with the Zilber College of Public Health, and the College of Community Engagement & Professions for a UWM Partners in Health campus initiative to be a regional healthcare leader in education, research, and service. The UWM DPT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) and boasts a 100% graduation rate overall, 100% overall NPTE pass rate, and 100% employment rate for graduates within 12 months of graduation. The UWM DPT program has partnered with the Zablocki Veterans Affairs Hospital to offer a post graduate orthopedic residency program. Job Summary
This 12-month position will serve as core instructional faculty instructing and advising entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students. The position will develop and maintain liaisons with other academic units and nonacademic agencies. The successful candidate will engage in professional scholarship and participate in university and professional service.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Physical Therapy License or eligible for State of Wisconsin Physical Therapy Licensure.
  • Professional doctorate (DPT) or academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHSc) by time of hire.
  • At least 3 years of current professional experience as a licensed practicing Physical Therapist.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ABPTS Board-certified in Geriatric Physical Therapy or Neurologic Physical Therapy
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • 5 years of current experience as a licensed practicing Physical Therapist with clinical expertise in geriatric or neurological rehabilitation
  • Experience with supervising students in a clinical environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to related professional organizations including membership in the American Physical Therapy Association
Target Salary Range Starting salary is $80,000 based on 100% FTE (Final offer will be contingent upon the knowledge, skills, and abilities demonstrated throughout the selection process, as well as educational qualifications.)
